Determinants of local government public service quality: Evidence from the developing economy

Public service delivery in Indonesia has been mandated to local governments following decentralization (Lewis et al., 2020). Due public criticism, this research investigates quality determinants from politics, head, and financial factors. Using the purposive sampling method, we collect secondary data authorized government institutions during 2016–2019, analyzed with panel regression. The findings demonstrate that average achievement of is at a high level Java Bali regions having better accomplishments than other geographic regions. However, there still exist several medium even low requires urgent improvement. Further, find women’s political representation legislative board, operational expenditure, capital expenditure positively affect while variables exhibit insignificant effects. Our study provides practical implications for Firstly, should elect accountable candidates best qualifications elections. Local also improve management by allocating adequate budget delivery. Despite being limited using quantitative analysis only can be improved future studies employing mixed method.
